Lawyers For Linden

Just looking at what the Union County Improvement Authority bills, it is DISTURBING.  Mind you, these bills  can ultimately be the responsibility  of the taxpayers. The litigation involving Verge Properties, for example, according to UCIA website,  cost :
Verge Properties
DeCotiis Fitzpatrick Legal Services 01/05/11 $ 39,612.77

That;s just for one month.

Does anyone think Verge spent as much in legal services?

What happens when Linden loses?

i thought linden was using the mcmahon law firm for this stuff

Isn't that great? Why do we need two law firms when Linden and the City are one? Do you think a lawyer is going to say we "don't need another set of lawyers"? LOL The more the merrier! This would never happen in the private sector.

The lawyers are all scratching each other's backs. The problem is having a council who recognizes it. Since council people, are for the most part, lay people, they don't have a clue. Or, some of them, don't want to. Especially if it concerns the County. Two of them work for the County so how could
they say boo?

What about DeCotiis, Fitzpatrick still getting about $7,000 per month for something to do with the Linden Library while the library has acquired maybe 30 new books and 10 DVDs since May?

No money for books. Only money for the lawyers.

so there two (2) law firms defending this thing- one for city and one for county.. which is coincidentally- decotis ..

unbelievable !!

How could anyone trust this law firm is beyond me. I was going to do another post on all the dirtbag skeeve connections that DeCotiis law firm has, but it's too tiresome. Google DeCotiis & the Waterfront, DeCotiis & Encap, and DeCotiis & Xandadu just for starters.

Here's a good one from PoltickerNJ:

"Ultimate Chutzpah Award
By Wally Edge | October 30th, 2007 - 10:11pm
Assemblywoman Valerie Huttle was in the mail this week attacking the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission for paying $4.4 million in fees to a "politically connected law firm...as rewards for big campaign contributions and political work." Since her husband is a partner at perhaps one of the most politically active law firms in the state, DeCotiis, FitzPatrick, Cole & Wisler, the beneficiary of many a reward for big campaign contributions and political work, Huttle gets this week's Ultimate Chutzpah Award."

This is from 2007 and yet it took until 2011 and obviously a new governor to clean up that cesspool at the PVSC.

Incredible.

isnt this that south wood ave project with the envronmental cleanup sign on it?

NFS said...

@anon 7:43. Yes, Verge, a/k/a Valvano, was the developer of the South Wood Avenue properties. I haven't driven past there in a while, so I don't know whether there are environmental clean-up signs, but there is environmental work to be performed at some of the sites ... I think specifically the one across from the Linwood .... maybe more. Can you imagine buying property BEFORE knowing the environmental hazards? Who knows if the escrow money is adequate. When a project is taxpayer backed, anything goes.

I guess Valvano never learned from his other boondoggle, the Linden Towers, across from Carvel which looks like a Newark tenement.

Linden is not Hoboken and people do not want to live on a busy, congested street next to railroad tracks.

WELL NOW I THINK I HAVE TO CONTRADICT YOU AS I HAVE BEEN IN LINDEN TOWERS MANY TIMES; THOSE UNITS ARE INDIVIDUALLY OWNED AND PROVIDE A FAIR SHARE OF PROPERTY TAXES TO THE CITY WHILE NOT USING TOO MANY OF THE RESOURCES (FEW CILDREN IN SCHOOLS AND ZERO TRASH REMOVAL AND ZERO SNOW REMOVAL)...

I THINK NEWARK TENANMENT IS AN EXAGERATION TO THE NEGATIVE, ALTHOUGH I DO SAY ITS NOT AN ARCHITECTURAL LANDMARK (ITS A DESIGN THAT IS DATED, FOR SURE)
BUT I DONT THINK THEY HAVE ANY VACANCY ISSUES THERE AT ALL

AS FAR AS LINDEN NOT BEING HOBOKEN, YOU ARE CORRECT; BUT HOBOKEN WASNT ALWAYS WHAT IT IS TODAY, NEITHER WAS JERSEY CITY
SHOULDNT WE ASPIRE TO SOMETHING ? WE CANT DO THAT IF WE ONLY CONCENTRATE ON THE NEGATIVE!..

Sorry if I offended you anon @ 8:26, but you miss my point to begin with. Go back and read.
